Transforming a Jibibut to Kokeshi. We Heart Wood, Jibibuts Custom show

Noferin has a wonderful new line of wooden toys called Jibibuts. They have asked a handful of their favorite Artists' to customize these fantastic little toys. I was delighted to part of the show. Here are some work in progress images of my latest Jibibut custom.

I started with a cute little Jibibut and a Kokeshi Base. These Jibibuts are way to nice to sand and paint over But I must do as Noferin asks.

Cutting the Kokeshi base.

Merging the two pieces and sanding.

After several coats of gesso the drawing begins.

Painting in the drawing. My favorite part.

After several hours of painting away here is the final product.

Thanks for sharing! Your kokeshi is amazing - as well as all of your paintings!
I´m also painting wooden dolls - you can see them on my blog...
